Detroit is now home to the first electric road in the US. A quarter-mile stretch in Corktown can charge electric vehicles in motion - a first in the nation, say officials, but not a first in the world since Israel's inductive charging specialist is leading the project.
Designwerk is commercializing a battery-buffered charging device for commercial vehicles with two CCS charging points with 420 kilowatts of power each. But this is just the beginning. The technology on which the charging container is based comes from an ongoing demonstration project for megawatt charging. A charging station of this type is to be used for the first time by a customer in Switzerland in 2024.
Mercedes-Benz and BMW are planning to set up and operate a joint fast-charging network in China. Mercedes-Benz Group China and BMW Brilliance Automotive want to establish a 50:50 joint venture for this purpose and start the rollout next year.
The Spanish charging station manufacturer Circontrol has presented the new generation of its Raption series of high-power chargers. The Raption Compact 160 was launched at this year's Power2Drive. Now, the Raption Compact 240 is to be followed by another fast-charging station. A third fast charger will be added to the series in early 2024.
The Belgian public transport company De Lijn has awarded a framework contract for up to 1,600 new depot charging points for electric buses over a period of eight years. The contract was awarded to two providers: ABB and SPIE-Ekoenergetyka.
Einride, a service provider specializing in electric transport, has inaugurated its first charging park for electric trucks in Rosersberg, Sweden. Nine charging points are available at the site at the start.
